Fred Jones and Paul Marino, who are form the underground Shakespeare company Popeye & Cloudy, trolls among NYC subway cars performing selected scenes from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, and Hamlet.
In a recent interview Jones told the New York Times, “I’ve never been one to want to play the game, this odd bureaucracy that comes with wanting to be an artist.
“Do we get tired? Yes. Is it sometimes grating? Yes. But at the end of the day we can look back and say: Nobody can take this away from us.”
