All is good in the “Green Lantern” front. With the official greenlite from Warners Bros. last Thursday, a new female lead has been cast. Blake Lively has been given the role of Carol Ferris, the woman who hires cocky and reckless test pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), the man destined to becoming the protector of earth and part of the intergalactic Green Lantern Corp.
According to Latino Review, Lively (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Gossip Girl), was one of several candidates considered for the part. Heat Vision reports that although the role was actually aimed at a slightly older actress, Lively, 23, won the role due to a solid audition and outstanding work in Ben Affleck’s lastest film, “The Town.”
Carol Ferris who is the woman in charge of her father’s aerospace company will play a substantial role and love interest in Marin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” adaptation which will tentatively arrive in June of 2011.
