Hollywood Reporter had some news today that made me kinda sad. Not only is there going to be a sequel to the Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie, but they’ve picked a director who’s recent hits involve rehashing sequels of remakes to make it happen.
Betty Thomas is a good director. She did a great job on Private parts. That said, this is not the first time she’s hitched her name to a project that shows how sad Hollywood has become. Not only did she direct the Brady Bunch movie, but she also did Doctor doolittle, I Spy, and she’s in talks to direct the film remake of Dallas.
Are there no good original ideas anymore? And why are really talented directors lowering themselves so frequently to create so much rehashed garbage.
In other news… The movie will be called… The Squeakuel and will introduce those chipmunk hussies known as the Chipettes. Well, at least its not another Air bud Sequel.
