Here’s some great news! Hayao Miyazaki, one of the most beloved animated film makers in the world is coming back to Studio Ghibli for one more movie! It turns out that there’s one story that he’s been developing for the last 20 years. He had ended up producing it as a CG short for the Ghibli Museum, but was unhappy with the result, so now he’s coming back to turn it into a Feature Film.
The film, Kemushi no Boro (Boro the Caterpillar), would be the animation legend’s first work since his retirement in 2013. Current reports estimate that the film will take him up to five year to complete, but he’s hoping to finish it up before the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The film is currently in story board mode and hasn’t been officially green lit, but come on… who is really going to say no Hayao Miyazaki?
