HG Wells’ story has been done by everyone from Orson Welles to Tom Cruise, and now it’s being tackled by the BBC. Variety is reporting that the BBC has just started filming their take on the classic story about aliens invading the planet Earth. The three-part series stars Eleanor Tomlinson (“Poldark”), Rafe Spall (“The Big Short”), Robert Carlyle (“Once Upon A Time”) and Rupert Graves (“Sherlock”).
The big twist on this adaptation is that the story that is true to the classic novel, taking place in the Edwardian Period. It will focus on George, played by Rafe Spall) and his partner, Amy, played by Eleanor Tomlinson), as they attempt to start a life together. Along with Rupert as Graves George’s older brother
Frederick and Ogilvy, an astronomer and scientist played by Carlyle, they all must deal with the horror of an alien invasion.
