We weren’t really expecting any big news this week, but for Star Wars fans, you can’t get much bigger than this right now. Slashfilm has just reported that Ahsoka Tano will be appearing in the second season of the show, and she’ll be played by Rosario Dawson.
This is major news for several reasons. First, we’ve been waiting to see Ahsoka come to the live-action side of Star Wars for a while now. Ashley Eckstein has been voicing the character since she first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars story and her voice even appeared in the final conflict scene of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Second, it has long been rumored that the Kevin Feige Star Wars trilogy in development would be an Ahsoka Tano story. And, we know that Brie Larson has been campaigning for the role. These are enough reasons to make this big news, but now that we know she’s going to be in The Mandalorian, there’s that much more to get excited about.
When Ahsoka first appeared, she was one of the more annoying characters in the Star Wars universe. But, as she matured, she became a major force through both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. When we last saw Ahsoka, she was heading off into the outer reaches of space with Sabine Wren (a former holder of the Dark Saber) to find Ezra Bridger and possibly Thrawn. This was just after the events of the Battle of Endor.
We know that Mandalorian takes place five years later. So, this could mean that both Sabine and Thrawn could get introduced to the live-action universe through the series.
