The American Pie franchise has been a success whether in theaters (American Pie, American Pie 2, American Wedding) or straight to DVD (American Pie Presents: Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House, The Book of Love) so where the money goes so does the blood sucking studio execs looking to make a buck. According to the LATimes, Universal is attempting to bring back American Pie to corrupt and create a new generation of wannabe Stifflers.

The studio is bringing the duos of “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,” Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg to pen the new script. Although the project is tentatively under the working title of “American Pie 4,” it isn’t clear whether it’ll reunite the old cast or create a next generation. With reboots and 3D being the new thing in Hollywood, I wouldn’t pass Universal to make an “American Pie Prequel” in 3D.

According to the article, “at least some of the original cast is interested in coming back for the new picture, though sources emphasized that development is early and there are no actor deals in place.” Meaning, the project is currently in infant stages of development and more won’t be known until quite some time.
