Looks like Tyrese Gibson is set to co-producer an Asian version of “Jersey Shore.” But this time it’ll be set up in Koreatown in Los Angeles/Hollywood featuring young Asian-Americans.
From our source:
“It looks like Koreatown will be the birth of a new hit-reality show featuring Asian-Americans with unique personalities and entertaining life experiences. It’s intriguing because it will be the first Asian-American based reality TV show!”
According to a Craigslist posting, a production company is “looking for interesting, attractive, colorful Asian-Americans to cast in a reality show similar to JERSEY SHORE, REAL WORLD, THE HILLS, etc. We need attractive Asian-Americans with lively, strong, and unique personalities between the ages of 18 to 30 with equally interesting life stories and perspectives to share, especially individuals who know about and/or experienced the Koreatown life.”
Yes, just what the world needs more of, Jersey Shore ripoffs! The abomination of MTV’s original “Jersey Shore” drew controversy over its negative portrayal and stereotypes of Italian-American. But with all the hype surrounding unequal casting in M. Night’s “The Last Airbender,” I suppose it only makes sense that Asian-Americans now get the equal opportunity to be stereotyped and negatively portrayed on national television.
Honestly, I don’t need to watch “Koreatown” to know that there will probably be a lot of drinking and false macho posturing. Like “Jersey Shore,” thanks but no thanks.
