Comedian Tom Green wrote on Twitter recently that he was the first to start the planking phenomenon back in 1994 with his “dead guy” stunt — three years before alleged creators Gary Clarkson and Christian Langdon first planked in their backyard.
While this may or may not be true, Green does have video proof (which you can watch below).
Recently Green also told CNN, “I don’t want to take anything away from anybody, but I do have video evidence.”
“The root of it, to me, is the absurdity of seeing someone lying there in the prone position as if they’ve died or passed out.”
