Japan has some pretty weird stuff, but it’s also the land of kawaii. That’s why it isn’t really surprising that someone figured out that for two autumn sunsets a year, the setting sun passing behind an NTT antenna tower in Akashi City, Hyogo, creates the adorable image of a panda.
A crowd gathered this year, for the October 12, 5:28pm Sunset Panda, despite drizzle and clouds, in hopes of seeing the kawaii image pop into view.
One group in particular, called the Yuyake Panda Mitemitai—meaning “I wanna see the Sunset Panda!” and “The Sunset Panda Viewing Corps” videoed the experience from the Akashi Municipal Planetarium.
