Man Shoots TV After Watching Bristol Palin On ‘DWTS’, Prompted 15-Hour Police Standoff

If there’s a Thursday WTF prime candidate it’d probably be this bit of news.

In Wisconsin, a man became so irate after watching Bristol Palin on “Dancing with the Stars” that he fired a gun at his television and prompted a 15-hour standoff with police.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, 67-year old Steven N. Cowan who authorities believe suffers from bipolar disorder, retrieved his shotgun and fired it at the TV, before allegedly pointing it at his wife who fled the scene and called 911.

Janice Cowan told police that her husband “jumped up and swore, saying something to the effect of, ‘the f–king politics.’

“Steven was upset that a political figure’s daughter was dancing on this particular show when Steven did not think that she was a good dancer,” the complaint notes.

The complaint also said Cowan had been stressed out because of his financial situation and was currently receiving treatment for mental health issue.

Cowan kept police at bay outside his home for 15 hours before surrendering without incident on Tuesday morning. He is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment.
