British actor Rowan Atkinson, best known for playing his character “Mr. Bean,” was taken to the hospital after crashing his $1 million dollar sports car in southern England.
The 56-year-old actor, who bought the McLaren F1 Supercar in 2007, was lucky to escape after he crashed into a tree and a lamppost before the vehicle caught on fire.
One of the world’s fastest road cars with a top speed of 370km/h, is thought to have lost control and spun around on a wet road several times before it hit the tree.
Atkinson reportedly walked away from the vehicle and flagged down other motorists to help.
He is said to have a minor shoulder injury, but is otherwise fine. The accident happened close to Haddon, a town roughly 85 miles north of London.
After receiving treatment, Atkinson left hospital via a back door flanked by four security guards. He refused to comment to waiting journalists before being driven away in an ambulance.
Atkinson recently appeared in popular British TV motoring show Top Gear, taking part in a segment called “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car”.
