Harrison Ford Teases At Possible ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel!

Although Harrison Ford is more widely known for his roles as Han Solo and Indiana Jones, he’ll always also be Rick Deckard to me from one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, “Blade Runner.” In a recent interview with Collider, Ford talked a little bit about the an upcoming “Blade Runner” sequel/franchise and his thoughts of the franchise being revisited by Warner Bros. who had acquired the rights to make prequels and sequels, and not a remake of the original.

I don’t have any feeling whatsoever. It was an interesting part of my professional life, I’m glad I made that movie, I’m glad that it got released without the hideous voice-over and I don’t know anything about it. I don’t have a judgment about how wise it is to revisit it. I personally think if you’re gonna do… The ambition every time that I’ve been involved in a sequel of a film or a movie that had a number of iterations, I always felt that we were responsible for bringing something new to the characters and to the experience of the audience. If they go into it with the ambition and some very good idea of how to bring something new to it, maybe it’ll be successful.

I wouldn’t feel bad if I were not invited to the party, because I would understand they would want fresh blood to be spilled. So there you are. They’re making another Jack Ryan movie and I’m not involved. So that’s the way it is.

Seems like Ford is apathetic about a possible new “Blade Runner,” but wouldn’t mind returning as Deckard if WB wants him back. The way I see it, WB could go the route Disney took with “TRON: Legacy” or dare I even say, “Indiana Jones 4.” Regardless, I do very much so look forward to a new “Blade Runner” film or TV series without without Ford. For once, I believe the universe has enough to stand on its own and Ford is merely a character who is replaceable.
