‘Rampage’ Director Promises Scarier and More Emotion Experience Than The Video Game

When we first heard that the old Coin-Op video game, Rampage was getting a film adaptation, we laughed. When we heard that The Rock was going to be the star, we still laughed, but we figured it might at least be some fun. In an interview with We’ve Got This Covered, director Brad Peyton warned that you shouldn’t discount this as just another stupid video game movie.

“It’s going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect. So you look at that original concept about a lab that affects these animals and makes them rampage, and that’s the nugget. If they called me tomorrow to do Call of Duty, I wouldn’t want to play any of the Call of Duty games. I’d have to come up with something that deserves to be its own thing. That’s where a lot of these movies can go wrong.”

That’s a pretty big promise for a game that was pretty much just an ape, a lizard, and a werewolf, punching buildings until they fall down.
