Some pretty big news came down today about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. If you were expecting the traditional text crawl that has proceeded the previous seven films in the Star Wars franchise, you might be a little disappointed. However, I’d suggest that you are acting silly. In my opinion, the film shouldn’t have a text crawl. They should be reserved for the the root series. Films that fall under the anthology category don’t need one. In fact, I like the fact that it helps differentiate them from the original films. It sounds like the anthology films will all have much different vibes than the Star Wars main films.
Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm had this to say on the matter:
“We felt that’s so indicative of what those saga films are. Initially, we probably will begin the film in a way that is traditional, with just the title.”
As to what sort of feel we can expect for the upcoming Han Solo film, here’s what she had to say:
“This moves closer to a heist or Western type feel. We’ve talked about [Frederic] Remington and those primary colors that are used in his paintings defining the look and feel of the film.”
