I’m really excited about ‘Valerian and The City of 1,000 Planets’ for a couple of big reasons. The first is that I’ve been a fan of Luc Besson’s since I first watched a bootlegged VHS copy of Leon, and second because it reminds me a lot of The Fifth Element and that is one of my favorite films. It turns out that Besson is counting on people like me to help make Valerian the box office success that Fifth Element should have been. The Bruce Willis/ Gary Oldman/ Milla Jovovich cult classic only pulled in $263,920,180 globally, with less than $65 million coming from the US box office.
To help get Fifth Element fans pumped for the new movie as well as to celebrate Fifth element’s 20th anniversary, Besson has teamed up with Fathom Events on a 4k restoration screening of the film for just two days next month.
Here’s when you can see the film: Fifth Element will be screening for two days only, on Sunday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 17 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. (local time) both days. The screenings will be the 4K restoration of the film.
Along with the movie, fans will also get a “brand-new, exclusive look” at Valerian.
