In the spirit of celebrity musical fundraisers like “We are The World” and 1984’s “Do They Know It’s Christmastime At All,” Simon Cowell has rallied the troops for a collaborative effort aimed at raising funds for the hundreds of families effected by the Grenfell Tower fire in London.
As of the last update, there are 79 presumed dead in the disaster and many more that remain hospitalized. On top of that are the scores of families who now find themselves homeless.
The song that Cowell picked to bring people together over the tragedy is Simon and Garfunkle’s extremely appropriate “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and the list of stars he’s gotten to contribute their time and talent includes Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Geri Halliwell, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, and dozens more of the UK’s most popular musical acts.
