ABC is developing a new drama series based on the classic story of “Beauty and the Beast.” Described as a fantasy reimagining of the classic fairy tale, the network has lined up “Human Target” and “Jericho” writer Jonathan E. Steinberg to write and produce.
This won’t be the first live-action network reimagining of the story. Some of you may remember the 1987 CBS drama that aired for three seasons starring Ron Perlman as the Beast and Linda Hamilton as Beauty.
News of the development comes after ABC announcement of their upcoming fantasy drama “Once Upon A Time” set in a parallel world in which classic fairy tale characters live in a modern society unaware of their true identities and storybook past lives.
The show’s stars Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White, Joshua Dallas as Prince Charming and Lana Parrilla as The Evil Queen.
