Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, a sci-fi satire about a meteor heading towards earth has just been fast-tracked at Netflix. The film, which is set to star Jennifer Lawrence is being described as a dark satire in the same vein as Wag the Dog, Doctor Strangelove, and Network.

Production for the film is set to start in April with the film seeing release later this year. The film serves as a follow up to his last two movies, The Big Short, and Vice, both of which earned multiple Oscar nominations and one of which took the award for best adapted screenplay.

In the film, two astronomers discover that the earth is six months away from being destroyed by a meteor and take it upon themselves to go to media and warn the planet. Here’s what McKay told Deadline about having the chance to work with Lawrence on the movie.

“I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite act. And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”
