Earlier today we got our first look at the new trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin. While the character hadn’t been mentioned in any previous press for the film, eagle-eyed fans noticed a very familiar parrot flying through multiple scenes. It was assumed by many that the remake would replace Jafar’s parrot, Iago with a human sidekick, much like they have replaced Jasmine’s tiger. Now we know the parrot will not only be in the film, but he will still talk just like he did in the original.
While Disney isn’t going out of their way to work with original Iago voice actor Gilbert Gottfried anytime soon, they have been loving their collaborations with Firefly/ Doom Patrol actor Alan Tudyk. In the last couple years, Tudyk has voiced characters in the Wreck-It Ralph films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Big Hero Six, Moana, Frozen, and Zootopia as well as Disney TV series Star vs The Forces of Evil. Well, now he can add one more credit to his Disney resume as the new voice of Iago.
