The AMC Network has just renewed “The Walking Dead” for a new third season. It looks like the zombie trend just won’t go away, not that any of us want it to.
Based on Robert Kirman’s long running “The Walking Dead” comic book series, another year of the extremely successful zombie drama was inevitable, but an official confirmation is very nice to hear. The second season premiered with 7.3 million overall viewers and 4.8 million in the much coveted 18-49 demographic.
“Today we are pleased to announce that the ‘dead’ shall live as we proudly renew The Walking Dead for a third season on AMC and, globally, with our terrific partners at Fox International Channels,” AMC’s president Charlie Collier said in a statement, as reported by Deadline.
It’s speculated that much of season two will take place at Hershel Greene’s family farm. If the comic is of any foreshadowing — ** SPOILERS ALERT ** –, that means season three would see the survivors at the prison, then Woodbury, with perhaps the Governor making his appearance around season 4/5. Whatever the case, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and enjoy the rest of season 2, while we await season 3.
