BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER Animated Series Heading To HBO Max From JJ Abrams, Bruce Timm

JJ Abrams is about to give his take on Batman with the help of Batman: The Animated Series’ Bruce Timm. Their new show, Batman: Caped Crusader was just announced for release HBO Max and Cartoon Network. If you were hoping the show would be a sequel to Timm’s epic original series, you would be sadly disappointed, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be in for a treat. The show is said to be using state-of-the-art animation and sophisticated storytelling to put Batman up against his iconic rogue’s gallery. Here’s what Timm had to say about the show:

“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic, and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”

Check out the first poster for the series below. It looks like they want to make sure there are no comparisons to Batman The Animated Series as they’ve gone with a Batman cowl design that is a lot closer to the original look of when Batman first debuted in May of 1939.
