In a very sad announcement today, Bob Hoskins has retired from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I grew up watching Bob Hoskins in everything from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, to Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Hook and even Spiceworld. The last film on that list shows that no matter how crappy the film, he was still usually one of the most memorable parts of it. He most recently appeared in Snow White And The Huntsman, where he did not have sex with Kristen Stewart.
Here is the official announcement:
“Bob Hoskins wishes to announce that he will be retiring from acting, following his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease last autumn. He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career. Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time.”
