Marvel has already said that the view Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel as the cornerstone to the next stage of evolution in the MCU and now it looks like they are putting their money where their mouth is. THR is reporting that the actress has signed on to a seven-picture deal with Disney and Marvel studios to continue her run as Captain Marvel for the next several years.

Two of the films in the deal are already in the can and set for release this year in Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. That means that the star will be in at least five more films over the next 2-4 years.

We don’t know the full details of the payday attached to this deal, but we do know that she got $5 million for her role in Captain Marvel. That’s $4.5 million more than Robert Downey Jr got for his part in Iron Man and way more than the $3 million Chadwick Boseman got for the first Black Panther film.

One thing that makes this interesting is that there has never been a character so divisive in the MCU until now. Even before her debut next month, fans are taking sides on whether or not she’s the best or worst thing to happen to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will be interesting to see how the online bickering over the character will impact her film debut’s box office take and whether Marvel just hit the jackpot or will have to make some changes on the fly.
