Marvel has released word that Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson has now officially begun filming. The big news here is that the film has now added three names to the cast that are all very familiar to fans of the MCU. The film, which is set int he 1990’s, before any of the other MCU films, will see Larson working side by side with Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson. Given the fact that Captain Marvel gets her powers from the Kree, it’s also not entirely unexpected (but still great news) to hear that Guardians of the Galaxy actors Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace will be reprising their roles as Korath and Ronan The Accuser. The three of them are joined by a cast that also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, and Jude Law.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel opens in theaters on March 8, 2019.
