It’s another year so like clockwork, Marvel’s Spider-Man gets another animated series. But this time, Spider-Man won’t be alone, as he’ll be teaming up with some of Marvel’s lesser-known heroes. Disney has recently announced the cast of characters for their latest animated version of Ultimate Spider-Man.
The announcement was made by Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, Calif.
In the “Ultimate Spider-Man” universe, Peter Parker is a teenager. And while he’ll face some recognizable Spider-Man villains, he’ll also get some help. Spidey is working with Nick Fury’s Shield team, which includes White Tiger, Power Man (Luke Cage), Iron Fist and Nova.
All the characters will appear as teenagers in “Ultimate Spider-Man,” and White Tiger will be based on the latest incarnation as seen in the “Daredevil” comics.
“Ultimate Spider-Man” will feature the voice talents of: Drake Bell (“Superhero,” “Drake & Josh”) voices Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Chi McBride (“Boston Public,” “Pushing Daisies”) is Nick Fury, JK Simmons (“Spider-Man”) is J. Jonah Jameson, Stan Lee (“Spider-Man”) as Stan the Janitor, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man”, “Thor,” “The Avengers”) is Agent Coulson and Steven Weber (“Wings”) voices Norman Osborn.
“Ultimate Spider-Man” will be part of the new Marvel Universe block of programming that will debut April 1 on Disney XD. The second season of Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes also will be part of that block.
