CBS Films Picks Up Movie Rights For ‘Deus eX’

Yesterday, the big news was about Michael Fassbender taking on Assassin’s Creed, now we’ve got news that CBS films is optioning the screen rights to the Square Enix game, Deus Ex.

The current speculation is that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be the game that they use as a blueprint for the first film.

If you aren’t familiar with it, the game is set in the near future and deals with an ex-SWAT officer who is coming to terms with the mechanical augmentations that have been implanted in his body and using them to help unravel a global conspiracy.

Here is what Terry Press, Co-President of CBS films has to say about it:

“As is clear from the wild success of the game, Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal know how to exceed their audience’s expectations by engineering incredible worlds. No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the Deus Ex name.”
