For Years, there’s been rumors of a remake of the 80’s classic Splash, Starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. Now it’s happening, but no one is sure why Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell are starring.
Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are set to produce the remake, but it seems like they are definitely going for a different vibe than the original. Along with Tatum, who isn’t really known for having the comedic timing of Hanks, you’ve also got Jillian Bell playing the mermaid. This puts a comedic actress in the roll that was once filled by Daryl Hannah.
It all starts to make more sense when the big reveal was announced… the remake would be genderswapping the roles. Tatum will be the mermaid and Bell will be the human. I guess someone looked online and heard it’s still a good trend to follow.
I’m so tired of remakes. Following this formula, would Rebel Wilson be cast as the John Candy role?
