It’s only Tuesday, but we’ve got some great news about Wednesday, the upcoming Addam’s Family series coming to Netflix from Tim Burton. The new series stars Jenna Ortega as a now teenage Wednesday, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Gwendoline Christie as Wednesday’s teacher, Larissa Weems.
So, who will Ricci be playing? According to Deadline, she’ll be taking the role that was vacated by Thora Birch. There are no details on whether or not they’ll explain the cast change that happened mid-production, or if they’ll go back and reshoot scenes/ use green screen to accommodate the change. The American Beauty actress left the show due to personal reasons mid-production.
We don’t know too much about the role, but some reports have Ricci’s character as “Wednesday’s dorm overseer Tamara Novak – The only “normie” working at the Academy, with her area of expertise in botanical studies”
Here’s a synopsis of the new series: Wednesday is: “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
