It’s not Boba Fett after he’s freed himself from the Sarlaac Pit, but it’s still cool news! Earlier Today, show creator/ director, Jon Favreau took to social media to show off a pic of IG-88, the droid bounty hunter who was featured in the original Star Wars trilogy as well as numerous games, cartoons, and comic books over the years. The image appears to be new, and possibly showing how the now much older droid will look when The Mandalorian drops on Disney + sometime in 2019.
The Mandalorian was written by Jon Favreau and George Lucas and will be directed by a rotating all-star team that currently includes Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi. The show stars Pedro Pascal, Omid Abtahi, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, Emily Swallow, and Carl Weathers.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
