Sadly the rumors are true. There won’t a full 13-episode season of “Doctor Who” in 2012. You win this time Internet…
This confirmation comes to us officially from BBC One Controller Danny Cohen who spoke at an event admitting that “Dcotor Who” would not becoming back for a full 2012 season.
So what does this all mean? For of now, it’s unconfirmed how many episodes will run in each of the next two years, but actor Matt Smith will still be the Eleventh Doctor for at least 14 new episodes. Therefore, chances are, only a portion of the new season will air next year, while the rest will air in 2013.
Good news, however, the show will get “a special run” for its 50th anniversary in 2013 with a lot of cameos and a big storyline.
