While promoting his newest movie “Adventureland,” Ryan Reynolds has recently disclosed that he will not be playing “Deadpool,” the Merc with a Mouth, in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, but rather his alter ego Wade Wilson.
“Fox may differ from me, but I personally don’t consider him as Deadpool,” Reynolds told Latino Review of his character. “I’m the thing that will eventually become Deadpool.”
In another interview with Collider, Reynolds repeats, “I really think I more or less play Wade Wilson.”
“I’m playing the creature that will eventually become Deadpool, but in this movie it’s his newly formed version.”
It seems almost safe to conclude that the anti-hero many have known to love from the comics has dramatically been altered for the movie. Reynolds’ statements, in addition, to a carded Deadpool action figure and screen shots from the latest trailer all but solidifies this reality. The fears and frustrations that fanboys have polemically blogged for the past year is now all but sadly realized.
The optic blasting Baraka wannabe seem in the latest trailer IS indeed “Deadpool.” Or at least the first incarnation of Deadpool…
