Last week “Avengers” director of photography Seamus McGarvey was quoted by the Irish Film & Television Network as saying that some scenes in the movie, and the trailer, were shot with an iPhone. But recent reports now say that that isn’t the case.

According to McGarvey, he was misquoted as a result of some bad editing. Here’s what he had to say to The Hollywood Reporter about it:

I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel’s The Avengers movie. Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true.

Furthermore, Disney has confirmed McGarvey’s statement saying that nothing in “The Avengers” was shot with an iPhone. Because really, why the hell would Disney want to do that when they have actual cameras?

Common sense =1
Apple fanboys = -1
