Disney has just announced what might be one of the weirder live-action film adaptations to date. The studio is set to remake their 1973 adaptation of Robin Hood. The new film will be written by Kari Granlund, the scribe of the recent remake of Lady and the Tramp. Blindspotting director Carlos Lopez Estrada, will be helming the project.
Despite the fact that they could just as easily make a Robin Hood movie using some of the music from the original film with human actors, the new movie is slated to keep the anthropomorphic approach from the animated classic in which Robin Hood was a fox; Little John, a bear; Friar Tuck, a badger; Prince John, a thumb-sucking lion; the sheriff of Nottingham, a wolf; and Maid Marian, a vixen.
