Several news outlets are reporting that Disney is looking at an actress from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to fill the role of Ariel in the upcoming Little Mermaid live-action adaptation. As much as we’d love to see Robert Downey jr in an iron fishtail and a scallop shell bikini, that’s not the star we are talking about. No, we are talking about Zendaya, from Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Greatest Showman, and the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The actress has proven that she has the chops to handle a Disney musical, but there will probably be some people who aren’t super happy that she’s not the same ethnicity as Ariel. Personally, we don’t care what she looks like as long as she doesn’t suck.
