There’s a new report going around that the script for Star Wars: Rogue One needs saving and that they’ve called in Christopher McQuarrie to see what he can do to make the Gareth Edwards directed film better.
There’s a lot riding on this film for Disney. This is their first Anthology film and it has huge shoes to fill as the first Star Wars film to come out after The Force Awakens. It’s no real surprise that if they did need someone, they’d bring in Christopher McQuarrie. Along with being called in to fix Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, he also worked on Edge of Tomorrow and helped save World War Z.
The script he’s working tells the tale of a band of rebels who are planning on stealing the plans for the death star. Chris Weitz had previously been working on it after Gary Whitta departed to work on a film for Mark Millar.
The site, Birth. Movies. Death is reporting that, even after the first two writers, the “the script still wasn’t in the right place.” McQuarrie has been tasked with tightening up the story.
Rogue One hits theaters on December 16th and stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Jiang Wen.
