A lot of people don’t know who El Muerto is. That’s because Marvel’s super-powered Luchador has only appeared in a few comics. Those few appearances must have made quite an impression as Sony has now announced that the character will be getting his own film with Bad Bunny playing the lead role.
It seems like the main storyline that El-Muerto had comics so far is that he wanted to fight Spider-Man, so he enlisted J Jonah Jameson to set it up. We can’t imagine Sony bringing Tom Holland in for such a d-list character, so if they follow that story, it will likely be another web slinger, or they’ll just go for a whole new story and focus on the fact that he can lift 30 tons. If they do that, they pretty much have a blank slate to do whatever they want .
