It’s been a wild time on the set of The Hobbit. First there was the problem with the Unions, followed by the Peter Jackson surgery based delay, now they are dealing with an explosion on the set.

The explosion happened when two of the crew were drilling a statue. Paramedics were called and the two workers were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The film’s publicist, Ceris Price says that they received minor burns to their nostril hairs. When that happens, you need to go and get checked out to make sure that there was no inhalation of burning materials.

Word is that this little accident will not affect the production schedule or the December 2012 release date.

When the first chapter of ‘The Hobbit’ does hit the big screens, expect to see Cate Blanchett, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Ken Stott, Stephen Fry and Martin Freeman in one of the most awesome movies ever made!
