The role of Reed Richards is one of the most talked about things in all of Hollywood right now. Granted, that’s largely because the entire movie industry has largely been shut down by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. A lot of fans are still hoping that John Krasinski will fill the role, but that just doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. More recently, Adam Driver has allegedly been circling Mr. Fantastic. Now, however, all eyes are on Matt Smith.

His name has been popping up a lot in recent days, and his team isn’t denying it. They are just issuing a no comment. So, do we think Smith could be good as Reed Richards? Absolutely. You can argue against him because of his roles in Terminator Genysis and Morbius, but he actually did pretty great in those roles. It just so happened that the movies were crap and the scripts were awful. If you want proof that he’s got the chops, just look at his time on Doctor Who, or the first season of Game of Thrones: House of Dragons.

If he has been cast, there’s a good chance that it will remain a secret until the strike ends. When that happens (or doesn’t), we’ll be here to tell you about it.
