Final Trailer Released for Charlize Theron’s ‘Atomic Blonde’

I like Charlize Theron, so I’m hoping this movie is good. There’s just been something about it that has failed to grab me so far. Maybe it has been the fighting, which is marketed as hyper realistic, but is the furthest thing from it, or maybe it’s just the character, who has seemed a little too all over the place to root for. Maybe it’s just the fact that they’ve put all this effort into making a “strong woman” film and then the only motivation they could think of for her is that her boyfriend is murdered. I’m still almost sure that it’s going to turn out that he’s not dead, and he’s actually been the bad guy the whole time.

I want to be proven wrong about the film. It’s got great people in it. Aside from Theron, there’s James McAvoy, John Goodman, Sophia Boutella, and Toby Jones. Also, this film has a lot of weight on its shoulders. It’s a comic book movie coming out right after Wonder Woman. If it fails, Wonder Woman could be branded as a fluke and studios will remain gun shy about giving women the lead in action films. However, if it blows up the box office, every 3rd level female comic book is suddenly going to have a movie deal. Either way, we’ll know when the film hits theaters on July 28th.

Oscar® winner Charlize Theron explodes into summer in Atomic Blonde, a breakneck action-thriller that follows MI6’s most lethal assassin through a ticking time bomb of a city simmering with revolution and double-crossing hives of traitors.

The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

A blistering blend of sleek action, gritty sexuality and dazzling style, Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, upcoming Deadpool 2). Also starring John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones, the film is based on the Oni Press graphic novel “The Coldest City,” by Antony Johnston & illustrator Sam Hart. Kurt Johnstad (300) wrote the screenplay.
