The first Clip is out for Disney’s Beauty and The Beast live action adaptation, but today’s real news about the movie is that Josh Gad’s Le Fou is now the first openly gay Disney character. In a recent interview, here’s how Gad described his character:
“LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston. He’s confused about what he wants. It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings. And Josh [Gad] makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that’s what has its pay-off at the end, which I don’t want to give away.”
When Playbill reported today that his character was indeed going to be the very first openly gay Disney film character, he tweeted out:
Beyond proud of this.
Along with the news, we’ve also now got the first, non-musical clip from the film. Check it out below.
