Last night, most of the country was busy watching the trainwreck that was the Presidential debate. While amazingly, no one punched or kissed anyone, We were all a little dumber for having allowed it to happen. Meanwhile, before the debate, Charlie Rose appeared on 60 Minutes to interview an artificial intelligent robot named Sophia, from Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong. The good news is that if this is the current peak of AI technology, Judgement day isn’t coming any time soon.
I will give Sophia this. Despite her “sense of humor” falling relatively flat and coming off more snarky than endearing, she was still more entertaining and interesting than the 90 minutes of televised dumpster fire that aired directly after her. However, if Sarah Connors had to go up against Sophia, it would have been a heartwarming drama about a woman taking in a developmentally challenged robot.
