On July 3rd, Disney+ is releasing Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton on their streaming network just in time to celebrate Independence Day. The musical, which has been one of the biggest hits on Broadway in the last several years was originally slated for a much later release this year, but the streaming network pushed things up, mainly because they knew they had a captive audience that would still not be comfortable heading to the cinemas for most of this summer. Along with Miranda, who plays Alexander Hamilton, the filmed version of the stage show also stars Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Phillipa Soo, and Renée Elise Goldsberry,

“An unforgettable cinematic stage performance, the filmed version of the original Broadway production of Hamilton combines the best elements of live theater, film and streaming to bring the cultural phenomenon to homes around the world for a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.”
