Fans have been teased with the idea of TV series and films based on Brian K Vaughn’s Y: The Last Man for years, but FX has finally stepped up to make it happen. At one point, the comic book series was set up as a show on HBO, and it has been discussed as being produced as anything from a stand-alone film to a trilogy.
FX has been toying around with the idea of turning the graphic novel into a series for a couple of years now, but this is the furthest along that things have made it. Here are the facts as we know them right now.
– The show will just be called ‘Y’
– Michael Green, co-writer of Logan, Alien: Covenant, Blade Runner 2049 and Murder on the Orient Express is on board to executive produce and co-showrun.
– Melina Matsoukas is set to direct the pilot episode.
– Matsoukas, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Brian K Vaughn are also set as executive producers of the series.
That’s all we’ve got for now. Let’s just hope they don’t cut out the monkey.
