While one Game of Thrones prequel series is already in production for HBO, you know the network is not going to pass up the chance to milk the franchise for every ounce of gold it is worth, especially not with their new Warner Bros streaming network coming down the highway.

The newest, and 6th GOT related series to get announced comes directly from author and GoT co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and Colony co-creator/exec producer Ryan Condal. This series will be set 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones and will tell the tale of the beginning of the end for House Targaryen. The new series will also be tied directly to Martin’s novel, Fire & Blood

While not currently being confirmed by HBO, the news has been released by Deadline who claims to have solid sources related to its development. The report went on to say that this is not just another prequel to Game Of Thrones, but is in fact a brand new take on the world as seen by Bryan Cogman.

The book, Fire & Blood was released as a Targaryen history book and a companion piece to A Song of Ice and Fire. It tells the tale of a time when ” House Targaryen — the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria — took up residence on Dragonstone.” The book begins with Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold the throne, all the way up to the civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, that nearly tore their dynasty apart.

When it was released last November, it had the tagline: “300 Years Before a Game of Thrones, Dragons Ruled Westeros.”
