Before I get to it, this new “Gargoyles” film will not be an adaptation of the classic animated series. For whatever reason Disney has decided to create a new film with the same name. It’ll have a similar premise but it’ll be a brand new adventure.
Disney recently hired “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra” screenwriters David Elliot and Paul Lovett to rewrite a script previously written by Zoe Green. The film is being produced by Lauren Shuler Donner (Fox’ X-men franchise) and will be about a world where “the stony statues on buildings come to life. Elliot and Lovett would portray them as guardian angels for the cities in which they reside.”
Considering how terrible the script to “Rise of Cobra” was, it’s kind of terrifying knowing that the duo were hired to rework Green’s script. It’s like trying to improve “crap” to “garbage.” Honestly, I don’t know why Disney is even attempting this. I’m sure like everyone else, we’d all rather see an adaptation of the classic Gargoyles series which represented a hallmark standard that still holds up strong to this day.
Y U no produce Gargoyles adaptation Disney!?
