Is “Glee’s” Heather Morris the next Buffy? The Internet apparently thinks that. According to an associate from Dolly Parton’s Sandollar Production Company, Morris who plays the ever lovable but dumb cheerleader Britney, is currently being heavily considered for the lead role in the reboot of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” If she lands the role she would take up the holy Buffy mantle that made Kristy Swanson and Sarah Michelle Gellar a house hold name during the 90s.
The 23-year old Morris is apparently being pursued or at least a frontrunner for the role. This is either ridiculous and dumbfounded or extremely impressive considering her resume consist of only ever being a second string “Glee” kid and an cheerleader in the film “Fired Up!”
The reboot is also rumored to take place out of high school, where a post-grad Buffy has to cope with the real world of joblessness and financial troubles.
Tentatively, the Buffy reboot is set with a 2012 release date. For now, I’ll give Morris the benefit of the doubt as her character Britney is one of my favorites on “Glee.” But she’ll really need to step it up to prove she’s capable of being more than just a dumb cheerleader… but rather a slayer.
