According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC’s upcoming superhero movie, “Green Lantern,” will shoot in Sydney, Australia at Fox Studios Australia. Planned with a December 17, 0309_entertainment/green_lantern_movie_production_news_t.jpg2010 release, “Green Lantern” is set for pre-production this July with filming slated for November.
With filming is still months away, a cast has not yet been determined but plenty of talent are currently on board including “Casino Royale” Filmmaker Martin Campbell, and a story penned by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim.
THR reports additionally that “Green Lantern” has a reported budget of $150 million and is expected to generate “around 500 jobs and include a ‘substantial investment’ in digital effects work in Australia.”
This boast well for Sydney and Fox Studios in Australia, which is not foreign to genre fare. Movies such as Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” and the Wachowski Brothers’ “Matrix” trilogy were all filmed at the studios.
All in all, “Green Lantern” is a property Warner Bros. is handling with respect and care. 2010 seems to be the year that Hal Jordan becomes a household name.
