Don’t let this spoil Comic-Con for you, but the word is out that Marvel has a new film property planned for 2014 and it’s none other than… wait for it… “Guardians of the Galaxy?”
Wait wha?
Apparently the rumors are true. We wrote about Marvel wanting to develop a “Guardians of the Galaxy” film back in 2011, and it’s now apparently officially confirmed.
According to Latino Review, the space heroes from the Marvel 691 universe (as oppose to the 616 Universe where Spider-Man, X-Men and The Avengers exist in) is set to make their featured film debut in 2014. It will join other more well known Marvel films properties that include “Thor 2,” “Iron Man 3,” and “Captain America 2.”
As the script rumor goes, the Guardian, which are made up of several C to D-list Marvel characters (Adam Warlock, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, etc) are expected to travel inner dimensionally back to the 21st century to meet up with the Avengers. The film is said to be a lead-in to “The Avengers 2” in 2015! And the Thanos teaser at the end of “The Avengers” was meant to be a teaser for both “The Avengers 2” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
