The first teaser for Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio has just dropped and it sets up the potential for a very different take on the classic tale. Slated for release on Netflix, the stop-motion adventure looks like it might be seen through the eyes of a cricket. No, not Jiminy, but Sebastian J. Cricket, a wholly different insect living inside the wooden boy’s heart. That is unless we find out later that the J. actually stands for Jiminy and we are being hoodwinked. Either way, the idea of a stop-motion fairy tale from the Pan’s Labyrinth creator would have us interested, regardless of the source material. Then, when you add on a stellar cast that includes: Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto, and introducing Gregory Mann as Pinocchio. Other cast includes Finn Wolfhard, Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, with Academy Award® winner Christoph Waltz and Academy Award® winner Tilda Swinton, there’s no way we’ll be passing this up when it hits the streamer in December.
